Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Proposed Analysis: The ADNI data would be included in a meta-analysis of individual patient data from multiple Alzheimer's RCT and observational studies. We plan to investigate the effects of patient, site, and trial characteristics on a disease progression model (e.g. Ito et al. 2011) for cognitive deterioration in Alzheimer's assessed via ADAS-cog. The proposed work is in collaboration with Drs. Lon Schneider at USC and Gary Cutter at UAB who have been assembling clinical trial datasets. The results of this meta-analysis will then be used in simulation studies for the design of Alzheimer's clinical trials. The advantage of this analysis is that the trial simulation will include aspects of the trial design and site selection as well as patient characteristics.
