Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Principal Investigator
Principal Investigator's Name: João Oliveira
Institution: Federal University of Pernambuco
Department: Neuropsychiatry
Country:
Proposed Analysis: My Research group is planning to perform a specific association study for Alzheimer´s Disease with a few molecular pathways and candidates, including polymorphisms for the following: PRNP, PRND, the Gabaergic and Glutamatergic system and Interleukins. This specific focus will help to confirm or exclude candidate associations and data mining prospection that we have been performing for the last 4 years using bioinformatic tolls and previous association studies that we performed since 1997. Additional Investigators
Investigator's Name: Ivan Costa Filho
Proposed Analysis: Shared analysis with the data requested by Dr João Oliveira

Investigator's Name: Manuela Souza
Proposed Analysis: Association study with the Gabaergic and Glutamatergic pathways associated genetic variations.

Investigator's Name: Jose Cunha
Proposed Analysis: To study the possible association between the PRNP and PRND SNPs and Alzheimer´s disease in order to identify a possible biological overlapping between AD and Prion disorders.

Investigator's Name: Lylyan Pimentel
Proposed Analysis: Sharing the association analysis between the PRNP and PRND SNPs and Alzheimer´s disease.

Investigator's Name: Gilderlanio Araújo
Proposed Analysis: We are planning to perform a specific association study for Alzheimer´s Disease integrating knowledge data such as GWAS and meta-analysis hits, PPI data, molecular pathways and candidates. This specific focus will help to predict or exclude candidate associations using data mining methods and bioinformatic tools.
