Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Proposed Analysis: Early detection of MCI and Alzheimer's disease can significantly improve patient care, management, and quality of life in affected subjects along with considerable cost reduction for health care systems. Most screening tools have either limited accuracy or are of complex nature that their application in primary care is limited. Development of a simple to use screening algorithm for use in primary care is a research priority. Data mining techniques with their unique attributes and outstanding ability in creating decision trees can serve this purpose. We aim to investigate the possibility of applying decision tree algorithm like CART (classification and regression trees) on ADNi data cohort to present a simple-to-use screening tool.
