Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Principal Investigator
Principal Investigator's Name: Howard Chertkow
Institution: Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research
Department: Bloomfield Centre for Research in Aging
Country: Canada
Proposed Analysis: A number of analysis are planned, most of which primarily related to cortical thickness analysis and/or VBM of MCI subjects. Specifically, (1) Application of MNI automated cortical thickness to brains originating at multiple sites, (2) subtyping of MCI according to clinical clusters, and their relationship to cortical thickness, (3) analysis of the variability of ventricular volume across MCI, and (4) a detailed corticometric analysis of the posterior left temporal cortex (BA 39) and its relationship to picture naming in MCI and AD.
Additional Investigators
Investigator's Name: Jim Nikelski
Proposed Analysis: Research interests are in line with those of Dr. Chertkow, i.e. cortical thickness analysis and VBM of AD and MCI subjects.
